The challenge
A private medical clinic wanted to introduce AI-assisted pre-consults before appointments. The goal was simple: collect up-to-date patient information before the visit, then give the doctor a concise summary that included both the patient’s latest details and the pre-consult context.
The hard part was the integration surface. The clinic ran on on-premises Best Practice, so the AI workflow could not rely on a modern cloud API pattern. Appointment data needed to stay synchronized reliably, and the integration had to meet the practical requirements of clinical software: security, predictability, and no disruption to front-desk workflows.
The solution
We built a custom integration using the Best Practice Halo proxy to synchronize appointment data into the pre-consult workflow. That gave the AI agent the right appointment context at the right time, so patients could complete pre-consults ahead of their visit and doctors could review a structured summary before the consultation started.
Because this was a clinical environment, reliability and security mattered as much as feature delivery. We worked directly with Best Practice to make sure the integration followed the right implementation patterns for Halo, including the operational safeguards needed for an on-premises deployment.
The result was an integration layer designed for real-world use, not just a proof of concept: stable appointment synchronization, secure handling of patient context, and a workflow that fit the clinic’s existing operating model.
The outcome
Patients now complete pre-consults against live appointment context instead of filling out disconnected forms. That means the clinic collects fresher information before the visit, and doctors start the appointment with a clearer picture of the patient in front of them.
For the practice, the value is twofold. Administrative teams spend less time chasing missing information, and clinicians get a more useful briefing before they walk into the room. The integration made AI pre-consults practical inside an existing medical software environment without asking the clinic to replace the system it already relied on.
